TERMS OF SERVICE (TOS)

Content use

Our guides are free to read and free to share with credit and a link back to the original page. You may quote a paragraph or two with attribution. You may not republish full articles, scrape the site at scale, or resell our content or data under the terms.

No professional advice

Everything here is general information, not professional advice, and it is offered in good faith. For structural, electrical, gas, legal or financial decisions, hire a licensed professional and follow local rules. If you use any tool, material or technique we cover, you do so at your own risk and you should follow the manufacturer's instructions.

Changes

We update this page from time to time. When we do, the new version applies from the moment it is posted, and continued use of the site counts as acceptance. Questions about the terms? Contact us and we will answer in plain English.

Third-party links

We link to other sites when they help, such as government guidance, trade bodies and product pages. We do not control those sites and we are not responsible for what they publish or how they handle your data. A link is not an endorsement.

Accounts and submissions

There are no user accounts on this site today. If you send us a tip, a photo or a correction, you confirm it is yours to share and you allow us to publish and edit it for length and clarity. You keep the copyright to your own photos.

Limitation of liability

We work hard to be accurate, but prices, regulations and product availability change. We cannot promise that everything is perfect at the moment you read it. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses that follow from using this site.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where the site operator is registered. If a dispute arises, we will try to resolve it with a friendly email first before either side takes further action.

Acceptable use

You may use the site for personal research and for work on your own home. You may not use it to harass our contributors, upload malicious code, attempt to access private systems or interfere with the site's operation. Automated scraping that places a load on our server is not permitted.

If you quote our work, link to the original page and do not change the meaning of the passage. Short excerpts with credit are welcome. Copying a full guide onto another site, with or without a link, is not.

Intellectual property

The text, layout, original photographs and graphics on this site belong to Meg Quitutua or the contributor who supplied them. Brand names and product images remain the property of their owners and are used only to describe the item under discussion. Nothing in these terms transfers ownership to a reader.

If you believe your work appears here without permission, follow the process on our DMCA page. We will review a valid notice and remove material where appropriate. For general copyright questions, the US Copyright Office is a useful starting point.

Severability and entire agreement

If one part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest remains in force. That clause would be replaced by the closest enforceable rule, and the overall agreement would continue. A failure to enforce a rule on one occasion does not waive our right to enforce it later.

These terms, together with the privacy policy and any specific notice on a page, form the entire agreement between you and us about use of the site. They do not affect rights you have under mandatory consumer law in your own country.

Getting in touch about these terms

If a rule is not clear, ask us and we will explain it in plain language. Contact us with the phrase terms question in the subject line so it reaches the right folder.
