My Home Furnishings and the New To Me Home

Introduction

Hello, friends! I’m Beau, and I am the proud new owner of a home. As you probably know, buying furniture for a new place is difficult and expensive. So, when I moved into my first apartment last year, I wanted to share with you all the pros and cons of buying used furniture as well as some tips for making sure that your purchases are high quality.

The Pros and Cons of New To Me Furniture

  • New furniture is often made of better materials.
  • New furniture is often less expensive than used furniture.
  • New furniture is often more stylish than used furniture.
  • New furniture is often more comfortable than used furniture, especially if you have bad allergies or asthma and need to be careful about how much dust and pet dander you breathe in every day.
  • It’s easier to clean new carpeting because it doesn’t get stained as easily by spills (or at least, not as bad), which means that you won’t need to replace your carpeting as frequently when it gets dirty or stained!

The Pros and Cons of Used Furniture

Pros: You can get a great deal on some very nice furniture.

Cons: You may not know the history of the piece. It might have been damaged in transit, or it could be missing parts that were never replaced by previous owners.

You may need to do some repairs to make it usable again (or refinish it).

Knowing Your Style and Your Budget

The first step to getting the home you want is knowing what you want. It’s easy to get caught up in all of the beautiful things at furniture stores, but if you don’t know what looks good with your current decor or how much money you have to spend on new furnishings, then it can be difficult to make an informed decision about what purchases are worth making.

Before going shopping for a new piece of furniture or decorating an area in your house, take some time and think about how much space there is available for each item and whether or not that particular piece would work well within that room’s existing layout scheme. For example: if I buy this couch now but later realize that my living room needs another chair instead (or vice versa) then I may have wasted money on something unnecessary!

I bought some things I really love, while also spending less money.

I bought some things I really love, while also spending less money.

I’m a big fan of thrift stores and flea markets, but I have never been able to find anything that was both inexpensive and in good condition. It seemed like my options were either cheap yet inferior or expensive and pristine–there was no middle ground! So when I saw this beautiful antique dresser with its original hardware at a local secondhand store, it felt like an answered prayer: finally something high quality at an affordable price!

Even better than finding an amazing deal on furniture was discovering how much easier it is to get rid of clutter once you get into the habit of keeping only things that spark joy in your life (and donating/selling everything else). After decluttering my apartment last year using Marie Kondo’s method for tidying up bookshelves (and then again when moving into our new place), there wasn’t much left over besides clothes–which made buying new ones feel like such a waste since they would just end up filling up space again anyway!

Conclusion

In the end, I’m very happy with my new home furnishings. I think it’s important to remember that furniture is just a tool for living in your house and should be comfortable and beautiful, not something that makes you feel bad about yourself if it doesn’t match some idealized image of what your life should look like. In fact, sometimes buying used or secondhand pieces can save money while also helping out someone else who needs some cash!
